Basil Davidson, Dead @ 95. This is episode 1 of "Different but Equal"

Mr. Davidson was easily one of the greatest Africanist historians of our time. But, more importantly, he was a friend of black/Afrikan struggle. He lived a very long and productive life and has left behind an extraordinary legacy. Peace to his friends, colleagues, and his admirers. GI

Update 1 (8/3/2010): There are some critics within the black radical tradition. See especially Manu Apim's The Problem of the Bernal-Davidson School (scroll to p. 191). Apim is especially critical of Davidson's claim that Ancient Egypt was "multiracial."
