What is Black (American) Identity?

This is an intriguing and eclectic piece on African American identity and cultural politics. It includes an interview with Mark Anthony Neal discussing how Black men might think and "perform" manhood differently; John Strausbaugh talking about the history of white men performing blackness (minstrelsy); Pulitzer Prize winner Edward P. Jones shares insights on his craft including a short story featuring a traditional healer in New Orleans (? i think) who wins over a skeptical African American medical doctor; and Emmet Till and Spike Lee and iconic Americans.
